The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued revised COVID-19 worker safety guidance, which is available for reading and download HERE.  This guidance is designed to help employers identify exposure and contraction risks for COVID-19 in the workplace, and to help you determine the appropriate control measures to implement. The revised OSHA guidance details key measures for limiting coronavirus spread, including providing information on the use of personal protective equipment, improving ventilation, good hygiene and routine cleaning. Covid-19 does not have a specific regulation under OSHA; the new guidance does give descriptions of mandatory safety and health standards that do apply to keep employees safe, i.e. PPE, 300 logs, reporting requirements, respiratory protection, sanitation, and bloodborne pathogens.  OSHA also has the General Duty Clause requiring employers to provide a safe and healthful workplace.  Most of you have already implemented many of these recommendations and have the mandatory programs in place. What is new in this guidance is the recommendation to conduct hazard assessments as it relates to Covid-19.
As a final reminder, the recommendations found in the guidance are noted by OSHA to be advisory in nature.

Applications are now being accepted for the Water Quality Financing Program.
The Water Quality Financing Program was created in 2018 as a revolving loan fund to finance projects that improve water quality. Priority is given to projects that are collaborative efforts. Projects can address either point source or nonpoint source water quality issues. Eligible applicants include municipalities, landowners, public utilities, rural water districts and industries that are required by the Nutrient Reduction Strategy (NRS) to collect data and evaluate alternatives to reduce discharges of nitrogen and phosphorous. Applications are due March 12, 2021. The application and program rules can be found on the Iowa Finance Authority Water Quality Resources web page. Please contact Lori Beary with questions at waterquality@iowafinance.com or 515.452.0470.

If you want to take your communications to the next level and haven’t already incorporated the use of electronic social platforms, now is the time. Social media can:
Provide opportunities for real-time, authentic conversations with customers.Open new feedback channels.Encourage faster, more efficient, and more effective delivery of information that you need to get to customers quickly.
With so many social media platforms out there, the question then becomes what to use for what. Here are some of the most popular platforms and what type of content you could post where.Facebook Announcements, accolades, tips, event sign ups, links to other online content (including other social media) Twitter Brief announcements, accolades, or tips YouTube Any length videos of events, training, presentations Instagram Pictures or short videos of events/activities Pinterest Repository for articles and information Wordpress or Blogger Original blog articles on news, issues, testimonials, etc. SlideShare Presentations Snapchat Pictures and very short videos that you only want to make available temporarily (up to 24 hours)  When considering what content to include, keep in mind that many social media users access their accounts for one of three reasons:Discovery or gaining knowledge: so think “first to know” or “behind the scenes” informationUsefulness: so think tips, tricks, and how-tosReliving experiences: so think content that evokes emotion and/or tells a story
