The Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities (IAMU) has developed an exciting service, Iowa Safety Education Program (ISEP), to deliver our OSHA educational classes. We will be offering in-person classes in 11 areas of the state, at various host cities, as well as webinars on most topics, plus a whole lot more. Click here to see the benefits of joining. ISEP ServicesISEP offers in-person OSHA educational classes or other services every month. We also record webinars on that month's OSHA classes and send out for viewing in case emergencies or vacations prevent attending the in-person classes. Some classes we can’t offer by webinar, for example: CPR and First Aid, forklift evaluations, and the electric high voltage classes are in-person only. Click here to see the 2025 classes. ISEP also lists on the IAMU website the class locations, dates and times for each month. As an IAMU ISEP safety member you will have access to our on-line streaming videos, leader guides and quizzes in addition to our regular ISEP classes. You will also have access to our OSHA written program templates that you may download and customize for your city/utility. Our template forms and guides to conduct a Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Personal Protective Equipment Assessment (PPEA), and Energy Control (lockout/tagout) machine specific procedure are also free to our members. Costs and How to Join ISEPTo become a member of ISEP your city/utility needs to be in one of our eleven current regions (Click here to view a statewide map of ISEP regions). IAMU by-laws require the members of ISEP be members of IAMU. If you are not a member and have a municipally owned utility, then that utility would need to become a member of IAMU. If you have no utility, IAMU also offers Affiliate memberships. An agreement will be required to be signed by the city. If the city’s utility is under a Utility Board then a separate agreement will be signed by both the city and utility. Costs of the agreements are based on the population of the city. Smaller cities costs are less than larger cities. The agreements renew automatically, so there is no annual agreements that need to be signed. It is simple to join and leave the ISEP group. Contact Dave Hraha, IAMU Director of Member Services, at dhraha@iamu.org or 515-210-8567 for further explanation and help figuring the membership costs, ISEP costs and simplified agreement creation. |
