IAMU Underground Electric Distribution Workshop (Sept 15)

Mark your calendars for the 2022 IAMU Underground Electric Distribution Workshop.  This year’s workshop will take place September 14 - 16, 2022 at the IAMU Training and Office Complex.

Once again, we will be having an official T-shirt for this workshop.  This keepsake for workshop attendees is a great marketing tool!  Display your company name proudly as an official workshop sponsor during and after this year’s Underground Electric Distribution Workshop.

Your sponsorship also provides for the workshop luncheon.  This will take place during the training day on Thursday, September 15.  Sponsors are welcome to attend the luncheon to network with workshop attendees.  Tables are also available to sponsors who wish to set up a display during lunch.

  • T-Shirt Sponsorship is $150 for IAMU Associate Members and $250 for Non-Members.  This includes one complimentary T-shirt.  (Additional shirts are available at $15 each.)
  • Break Sponsorship - $100 per break
  • Lunch Sponsorship - $300 per lunch

The registration deadline for the T-Shirt sponsorship is Thursday, August 25.

Electric Underground Workshop Cancelled

Due to the continued concerns related to the Covid-19 virus, the Electric Safety and Training Committee and IAMU made the decision to cancel the Underground Electric Workshop that was originally scheduled for this week. The committee and IAMU will continue to monitor the ongoing activities related to the virus and determine whether or not additional trainings scheduled for the future will be cancelled. Thank you for your patience during this challenging time.

Underground Electric Distribution Workshop is September 18-20

Mark your calendars for this year’s Underground Electric Distribution Workshop.  This year’s workshop will take place September 18 – 20, at the IAMU Training and Office Complex.

An Underground Installation Project consisting of a variety of topics and hands-on stations will be offered at this year’s workshop.  This training will include:

  1. Directional Boring & Duct Handling
  2. Technical Locating
  3. Elbows & Terminations
  4. Troubleshooting / Protective Grounding
  5. Cable Identification
  6. Primary & Secondary Splicing
  7. Trencher Operation

Apprenticeship testing is available on September 17 and the morning of September 18.  Apprentices are able to take their Year-end/Module Final Exams as well as Year-end/Module Final Skill Evaluations.  *Apprentices must pre-register for testing and skill evaluations.*  These are the only available times, during the workshop, for evaluations and registration is limited.

The workshop luncheon allows attendees to mingle and network in an informal setting.

Registration is open.

The registration deadline for this workshop is Friday, September 13.  You may mail, or fax the registration form in.  You may also register online at the IAMU website at www.iamu.org and clicking on the workshop under the “Events” link.

  • Elbows & Terminations
  • Troubleshooting, Isolating & Service Restore
  • Lightning Protection / System Grounding
  • Cable Identification / Secondary Fault Finding
  • Primary & Secondary Splicing

Apprenticeship testing is available on September 18 and the morning of September 19.  Apprentices are able to take their Year-end/Module Final Exams as well as Year-end/Module Final Skill Evaluations.  *Apprentices must pre-register for testing and skill evaluations.*  These are the only available times, during the workshop, for evaluations and registration is limited.
