Mark your calendars for the 2022 IAMU Underground Electric Distribution Workshop. This year’s workshop will take place September 14 - 16, 2022 at the IAMU Training and Office Complex. Once again, we will be having an official T-shirt for this workshop. This keepsake for workshop attendees is a great marketing tool! Display your company name proudly as an official workshop sponsor during and after this year’s Underground Electric Distribution Workshop. Your sponsorship also provides for the workshop luncheon. This will take place during the training day on Thursday, September 15. Sponsors are welcome to attend the luncheon to network with workshop attendees. Tables are also available to sponsors who wish to set up a display during lunch. Location and Time: IAMU Training and Office Complex 1735 NE 70th Avenue Ankeny, IA 50021 Thursday, September 15 - 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. - T-Shirt Sponsorship is $150 for IAMU Associate Members and $250 for Non-Members. This includes one complimentary T-shirt. (Additional shirts are available at $15 each.)

Just a friendly reminder that the IAMU Overhead Electric Transmission and Distribution Workshop is quickly approaching. This year’s workshop will take place May 18 – 20, 2022 at the IAMU Training and Office Complex. The classroom topics and/or hands-on activities include: - Preforms (Top, Side, Hand Ties, Guying)
- Bucket Self Rescue
- Transformer (Theory & Connections)
- Storm Restoration
- Line Construction
- Tree Trimming (Instructed by Tivon Feely)
Apprenticeship testing and skill evaluations will be available. Please note that the number of apprentices is limited to the first 8 that sign up. Pre-registration is required for apprenticeship testing and evaluations. Testing and evaluations will be available on Wednesday morning, May 18 and Friday afternoon, May 20. (For questions about testing, please contact Meredith Hibbs – mhibbs@iamu.org.) The registration deadline for this workshop is Friday, May 13. Registration is capped at 40 registrants. Once registration fills, a waitlist will be available. Congratulations to Nick DeBerg of Cedar Falls Utilities on completing the IAMU Apprenticeship Program.
Brandon began the program on November 17th, 2017 and graduated September 11th, 2021.

Congratulations to Jasen Bender of Muscatine Power & Water on completing the IAMU Apprenticeship Program.

The Utility Pole Climbing Workshop will take place October 27-29 at the IAMU Training & Office Complex. This workshop will focus on the fundamentals and technique of climbing. Training will be a combination of classroom & hands-on. Who Should Attend: This workshop is beneficial for anyone that is interested in learning how to climb. Apprentices in Module A of the IAMU Electric Line Maintainer Program are encouraged to attend. What to Bring: Class attendees will be required to bring their own PPE equipment, including:
- Hard hat
- Safety glasses
- Safety-toe boots
- Leather gloves
- Climbers
- Body belt
- Fall protection strap
- Alternate strap
- Clothing suitable for weather conditions
Registration is OPEN. The workshop will be limited to 10 registrants.

Mark your calendars for the IAMU Underground Electric Workshop. This year’s workshop will take place September 15-17, 2021 at the IAMU Training and Office Complex. *This will be an IN-PERSON training.* Apprenticeship Testing & Skill Evaluations Apprentices will have the opportunity to do hands-on skill evaluations during the following timeframes:
- Wednesday, September 15 (Morning)
- Friday, September 17 (Afternoon)
These are the only available times for evaluations and limited to the first 10 apprentices. Pre-registration is required for testing and evaluations. Registration Registration is now open. The registration deadline for this workshop
is Friday, September 3. Registration is LIMITED at 48 registrants. Cost: IAMU Members - $420 Non-IAMU Members - $480 (Please make sure you are signed-in to get member pricing)
