Iowa Submits Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plan to Federal Government

Posted By IAMU, Tuesday, August 2, 2022

Iowa’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment plan was submitted to the federal Joint Office of Energy and Transportation for review on August 1, 2022. This plan allows the state of Iowa to access earmarked funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (IIJA). You can view the plan here today:

Iowa Electric Vehicle Plan - Overview (iowadot.gov)

After certification by the joint office, there will still be many details to work out regarding program implementation and administration, so we anticipate it will be later this winter before Iowa is able to officially announce the availability of funding and the process for seeking those funds.

IAMU is reviewing the plan now, and will send a summary in next week's edition of the IAMU Informer Newsletter. If you have any questions regarding Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding opportunities, please contact Jeff Gorrie, jgorrie@iamu.org, 309-678-5579.

June Electric Vehicle Webinars

Posted By IAMU, Wednesday, May 26, 2021

Earlier this month, Ford Motor Company announced that the #1 selling truck in America will be available as an EV in 2022. General Motors has pledged to sell no light-duty new vehicles with tailpipes by 2035. Volvo Cars: all electric by 2030. Uber: zero emissions by 2040. Jaguar: all electric by 2025. FedEx: carbon neutral by 2040.

The EVs are definitely coming...

But as a municipal utility, what can you do to prepare for the rise in market adoption of EVs? IAMU has two webinars coming up in June to address the rise of EVs, and to deliver solutions for the future.

IAMU has created an EV toolkit with APPA DEED Grant funds, and we’re excited to talk about our toolkit. The toolkit has some really great resources on EVs including:
  • Planning Tools
    • Spreadsheet with EV forecasting tools and charging resources, as well as a few miscellaneous calculators
  • Case Studies
    • Featuring public power entities supporting EV market development
  • Engagement Resources
    • Marketing and engagement templates and resources

Calling All Members with Electric Vehicles

Posted By IAMU, Thursday, September 26, 2019

IAMU will be holding a preconference on electric vehicles as part of our 7th Annual Energy Conference. The preconference, scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23 is titled, “Iowa’s Emerging Electric Vehicle Market: Impacts and Resources.”

During the last hour of the preconference (4 to 5 p.m.), IAMU would like to host an electric-vehicles exhibit in the parking lot of Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack & Hotel, where the conference is being held. We would like to have as many members as possible bring and display some of their electric vehicles. If you would be willing to do so or have any questions about the exhibit, contact Jeremy Caron, IAMU Director of Energy Services, at 515.289.1999 or by email at jcaron@iamu.org.
