New IAMU Staff Member

IAMU welcomed a new staff member on November 16, Sandra Jordan, (Sandy), is a Safety Professional with over 15 years of experience in construction and manufacturing. She grew up in Iowa and attended the University of Iowa, graduating with a BA in English accompanied by a Teaching Certification for secondary education. She also attended Kirkwood Community College in their Agricultural department, and then earned her COSS (Certified Occupational Safety Specialist) through the same educational institution. She is currently working on her MBA, which will have a concentration in Human Resources when she finishes in 2021. Sandra is also an Outreach Trainer for OSHA in Construction, facilitating both 10 & 30 hour courses. She holds extensive experience in writing and implementing safety programs, classroom and hands-on safety training, performing on-site risk assessments and behavioral safety audits, as well as safety data and accident investigation/root cause analysis in her passionate endeavor to reduce accidents and injuries for Iowa’s workers. Sandy met her husband at 13 years of age and they have been married for almost 35 years. They have no children of their own, but love and spoil 3 large dogs and “about” 6 cats! Sandy is committed to the safety profession and to excellent customer service. The excitement of being part of creating successful safety cultures and beginning a new chapter in her career is evident in her positive attitude.

IAMU Welcomes New Staff Members

IAMU has had several additions to staff in the last few months.


 

Jamie Van Dusseldorp joined the association on April 25th as the new Staff Accountant. Jamie graduated in May of 2015 from Iowa State University where she majored in Accounting. After graduation, she worked with Accounts Receivable at RightStuf, before taking an internship at Jasper Construction Services gaining invaluable insight into every aspect of the accounting department. Jamie was born in Des Moines and raised near Newton.  She enjoys spending time with her corgi, Waffles. She is most looking forward to getting to know everyone at IAMU and working with different utilities across Iowa. Dave Eaton joined the association on April 29th as the new Risk Improvement Representative.  Prior to joining IAMU, Dave worked for the City of Ames as the city's Risk Manager for nearly 5 years.  Prior to his position in Ames, his private sector experience spanned 30-plus years of responsibility over risk management, safety and insurance.  Dave is looking forward to getting out and visiting with our membership to help them lower their risk exposure and insurance costs.  An Iowa native, Dave’s home town is Burlington and he currently lives in Ames.  Dave is a graduate of Truman State University, where he majored in Business Administration.  His other designations include Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer.  Dave enjoys watching all types of auto racing and driving his ’67 Chevy Camaro to local car shows and cruise nights.  He may be contacted at deaton@iamu.org, his office number - (515) 289-5201, or his cell number - (319) 850-9000.


Nathan Berry joined the association on June 6th as one of our new Safety Specialists. Nathan has worked in the safety field as a loss control representative and as a casualty claims specialist at Nationwide Insurance.  Previous experience in the construction industry allowed him to become certified as an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer.  Born in Newton and raised on a farm in Illinois, he now lives in West Des Moines.  He enjoys activities like soccer, visiting craft breweries and playing pool. New IAMU Electric Staff Members

IAMU's Electric Services Department has two new additions, Dan Llewellyn and Meredith Hibbs.


  

Dan joined the association on February 16th as the new Electric Services Coordinator. Dan has extensive experience as a journeyperson and is a graduate of the IAMU apprentice program.  Dan has worked for the past 8 years at the Indianola Municipal Utilities, with duties including: distribution, transmission, and substations.  Born and raised in St. Charles and currently living in Norwalk, Dan enjoys watching all kinds of sports.  Dan is looking forward to getting out and visiting with our membership.  He may be contacted at dllewellyn@iamu.org, his office number 515-289-1999, or his cell number 515-971-8481.


 

Meredith joined the association on February 22nd as the new Apprenticeship Assistant. Meredith comes to IAMU after working for 9 years at the Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA in membership services and as a retention coordinator.  Her proven people oriented and organizational skills will be very beneficial in her new role here at IAMU.  She also worked for many years at Des Moines University working on syllabi and exams which will be useful in the day to day operation of the apprenticeship program and also assisting with the gas OQ testing and database.  Meredith is a graduate of Creighton University where she majored in psychology with an emphasis in English.  Born and raised in Altoona, and currently living in Marshalltown, Meredith enjoys watching college football.  Meredith is looking to forward to getting to know our members. Many of you might be wondering about Chris Pham who has been an integral part of the apprenticeship program for many years.  Chris has accepted another position here at IAMU as our Administrative Assistant.  He will be providing administrative support to senior management and department coordinators.  He will be finishing up and then help roll out the new updated apprenticeship standards and program in the next few weeks, as well as training Meredith to fill his former duties.  Congratulations Chris.
