Hand Hygiene at Work

Posted By IAMU, Thursday, December 2, 2021

Hand hygiene is an easy, affordable, and effective way to prevent the spread of germs and keep employees healthy. Promoting clean hands within your workforce—whether your employees work in a classroom, in a retail store, in an office, at home, or any other setting—can improve the health of your employees, customers, workplace, and even your community.

Reopening Guidance for Cleaning and Disinfecting Public Spaces, Workplaces, Businesses, Schools, and Homes

Posted By IAMU, Tuesday, May 12, 2020

This guidance is intended for all Americans, whether you own a business, run a school, or want to ensure the cleanliness and safety of your home. Reopening America requires all of us to move forward together by practicing social distancing and other daily habits to reduce our risk of exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19. Reopening the country also strongly relies on public health strategies, including increased testing of people for the virus, social distancing, isolation, and keeping track of how someone infected might have infected other people. This plan is part of the larger United States Government plan and focuses on cleaning and disinfecting public spaces, workplaces, businesses, schools, and can also be applied to your home.

Coronavirus Update

Posted By IAMU, Wednesday, March 4, 2020

IAMU's Director of Member Security and Critical Infrastructure Protection (Russ Saffell) is closely monitoring developments with COVID-19. IAMU has also vetted and provided links for pandemic training, planning templates, and COVID-19 information and resources on our web page at www.iamu.org/security. Please visit the site and utilize the resources.

The State of Iowa currently has no cases of COVID-19, but there are cases in our surrounding states. Although the immediate threat is minimal, that does not mean that it does not have the potential to escalate quickly. Being prepared, is what will set you apart and limit the impact to continuity of critical services.

Identifying your critical functions and what resources are required to maintain them is an essential first step in your planning process. Identifying contingencies if those resources are no longer available (personnel, supplies, equipment, components, and infrastructure), and identifying delegations of authority and an order of succession for personnel should follow. Where the threat is significant right now, and many members may already be affected is supply chain management. Every member should be developing secondary and tertiary contingency plans for critical supplies, components and infrastructure due to primary suppliers being in heavily affected areas like China. Remember that large investor owned entities that may require many of the same items are already out there working with distributors and manufacturers for large bulk orders. If feasible, you are highly advised to stockpile as much as you can.

If you have any questions please contact Mr. Saffell any time via email at rsaffell@iamu.org or on his cellular phone at (515) 988-8686.
