Attention APPA Members: Public Power Rebates Available on Nissan LEAF for Members & Customers

The American Public Power Association has partnered with Nissan to offer its member public power community across the United States exclusive rebates on the all-electric 2019 Nissan LEAF. 

Public power customers and employees are eligible for a rebate of $3,500 on the 2019 Nissan LEAF 40 kWh Standard and of $2,500 on the 2019 Nissan LEAF 62 kWh ePlus.

Utilities, joint action agencies and state/regional associations may use the rebate for fleet vehicles. The rebate on the LEAF 40 kWh Standard for fleet vehicles may be up to $5,000 in ZEV states — ask your local dealer.

To claim the public power rebate, public power customers must  download this flyer  and take it to a  local Nissan dealer, along with proof of eligible residency and a current electric bill.

2019 Midwest Regional Municipal Utility Cybersecurity Summit

The American Public Power Association is holding a Midwest Regional Municipal Utility Cybersecurity Summit on July 24 and 25 at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The summit will provide education on the tools, technologies, and resources available to municipal utilities to establish and maintain a successful cybersecurity program, no matter what the size of your utility.

Make Plans to Attend APPA's Spring Education Institute in Omaha

APPA is holding its Spring Education Institute on May 6 through 10, in Omaha (at the Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District).

At the Institute, APPA offer week-long tracks of courses (15 classes total). These courses are designed to offer progressive — basic, intermediate, and advanced — training within the different subject areas, and attendees earn continuing education credits for participating (CEUs, CPEs, and PDHs).

Topics include:

  • Accounting (3 courses)
  • Cost of service and rate design (3 courses)
  • Electrical distribution principles, applications, and improvements (2 courses)
  • Energy efficiency and distributed energy resources (5 courses)
  • Public power leadership (3 courses)

The Institute also features two popular certificate programs, which are only offered once a year:

Attendees receive a $50 discount per course when they sign up by April 15 and a $100 discount for attending more than one class.

Public Power Social Media Content Ideas for November

To help raise awareness of public power in your community, the American Public Power Association (APPA) encourages public power utilities to join the APPA and other public power utilities across the country in sharing public education resources in November. APPA has listed some helpful resources below that you can use in your social media posts, newsletters, and other customer communications. Use the hashtags listed below the resources as well as #PublicPower. You can also simply repost/retweet/share every day from the APPA’s FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

#CommunityPowered Campaign social media contest for customers  
Through Nov. 30, encourage your followers to use their public Instagram or Twitter account to share a photo or video about why they think it's great to be #CommunityPowered (don't forget the hashtag!).
