Mark your calendars for the IAMU Water Distribution & Leak Detection/Line Locating Workshops. The workshops will take place September 10th - 11th at the IAMU Training and Office Complex.
Water Distribution Training topics will include:
- Fire hydrant maintenance
- Water main tapping / HydraStop
- Water main installation / repair & fittings
Water Leak Detection / Line Locating topics will include:
- Water leak detection (with various equipment)
- Line locating
- Trenching & shoring
- Fittings
0.6 CEUs each day for Water Distribution.
Cost:
Early Registration (on or before September 6th)
- IAMU Members - $65/day or $115 both days
- Non-Members - $105/day or $190 both days
Late/At-the-Door Registration
- IAMU Members - $75/day or $135 both days
- Non-Members - $115/day or $210 both days

IAMU would like to invite you to the Utility Workers Appreciation Night at Principal Park on Saturday, Aug. 10. Please join fellow municipal utility workers from across the state for a fun-filled night taking in an Iowa Cubs baseball game. Tickets are $8 each with no limit on the number of tickets you may purchase. Join fellow wastewater professionals from around the state for this comprehensive workshop. The workshop, sponsored by CIT Sewer Solutions, will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6 at IAMU. The hands-on training qualifies for 0.5 CEUs for wastewater.
Topics covered included:
- Collection System Maintenance 101
- Geospatial Tools & Tricks for Sanitary Sewer Triple Bottom Line Results
- Grouting Fundamentals for I/I Reductions

Jim Silvers started on July 22 as an IAMU Safety Coordinator. Jim has worked in the safety field for 32 years as a Safety Coordinator, Manager, and a Training Consultant at various high-profile companies, most recently as the Director Program Development & Training with the Iowa Illinois Safety Council. Jim has a vast safety knowledge base and is an approved instructor for OSHA-outreach classes. Jim will conduct trainings; perform OSHA walkthroughs, program reviews, and program customization for members; team teach the OSHA 10 & 30 classes; assist with employee scheduling and creating annual safety agreements; assist with special projects; and helping to develop and organize more safety workshops.

Iowa will host the annual Midi-American Regulatory Conference on August 11 – 14, at the Hilton Des Moines, 435 Park Street, Des Moines.
The four-day event will be packed with informative sessions and networking opportunities with utility professionals from across a 14-state region. States include Arkansas, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin.
