Workplace Introduction
IAMU represents more than 750 municipal electric, gas, water, and broadband utilities statewide, and maintains a marketing relationship with more than 185 associate member businesses. IAMU represents its members before the Iowa Legislatures, administers mutual aid programs, offers job training and safety programs, co-sponsors the Iowa Public Agency Investment Trust, and sponsors the Safety Group Insurance Program.

Position Purpose
The IT Specialist will provide day-to-day support for our technology environment. 

Hybrid schedule after 90 days.

Job Functions
  • Install desktop, laptop and tablets using standard procedures
  • Troubleshoot desktop, laptop and tablet issues
  • Install software and troubleshoot software issues
  • Support devices including cell phones, desk phones, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, audiovisual equipment
  • Manage security system, alarms and keys
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment and assist with ordering equipment
  • Develop and document IT related processes
  • Provide technical assistance with IAMU website
  • Partner with IT service provider
  • Work with vendors, software providers and manufacturers
  • Assist with IT budget

Knowledge Requirements
  • Associates degree in computer science, management information systems or other technology related fields is required.
  • A minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in help desk role or IT Specialist position
  • Experience providing technical support to non-technical employees
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds

Energy Trends Workshop: Elevating the Energy Conversation

Picture After a successful inaugural event in 2022, the Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC), in partnership with the Iowa Association for Energy Efficiency (IAEE), will hold the second annual Energy Trends Workshop.
 
With the need for residents and businesses to reduce their use of fossil fuels sooner rather than later, this one-day workshop focuses on current and future energy trends in Iowa. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from and network with energy experts, consultants, industry professionals and government agencies with the goal of elevating the energy conversation in Iowa. Past attendees noted they “...really enjoyed this event…” and “...received a number of calls and emails after the event to connect and share additional information.”
 
The event will open with Keynote Speaker Robert Bryce. Mr. Bryce is the host of the Power Hungry Podcast and has been writing about energy, power, innovation and politics for more than 30 years. The author, journalist, and film producer will present on “Renewable dreams, hydrocarbon realities and the real fuels of the future”. Breakout sessions will occur throughout the day.
 
Date: Thursday, May 4
Time: 8:15 am - 4:00 pm (Registration opens at 8:15 am)
Location: West Des Moines Marriott – 1250 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50266
Cost: $75 per person. IAEE members receive discounted tickets at $60 per person.
