The proper installation, repair or abandonment of service lines is a key
component to the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to
customers. The incorrect installation of customer service lines can lead
to unintended pipeline leaks, insufficient gas service to customer,
customer complaints, as well as resulting in hazardous conditions.
Workshop attendees will receive "live" hands-on training regarding safe
installation practices according to procedures contained in the
Operations & Maintenance Written Procedures Manual. Participants
will perform all tasks necessary with the installation, repair or
abandonment of service lines. Attendees will also receive training in
completing the required documentation for PHMSA and IUB compliance
audits.
Training will be Provided on the Following Tasks:
• Visually Inspect Pipe and Components Prior to Installation
• Installation of Plastic Pipe in a Ditch
• Install Tracer Wire
• Install Plastic Service Lines
• Install Excess Flow Valves
• Tapping a Pipeline with a Built-in Cutter
• Purge - Flammable or Inert Gas
• Pressure Test: Non liquid Medium - MAOP Less than 100 psi
• Leak Test at Operating Pressure
• Abandon/deactivate Service Lines
