Open IAMU Position - Member Education Coordinator

Reports To:  Executive Director
Employment:  Full-time
FLSA Status:  Exempt

Workplace Introduction
IAMU represents more than 750 municipal electric, gas, water, and broadband utilities statewide,and maintains a marketing relationship with more than 185 associate member businesses. IAMU represents its members before the Iowa Legislatures, administers mutual aid programs, offers job training and safety programs, co-sponsors the Iowa Public Agency Investment Trust, and sponsors the Safety Group Insurance Program.

Position Purpose
The Member Education Coordinator is responsible for assessing development needs within IAMU membership through collaboration with members and IAMU staff.  By fostering an environment of continuous learning, the Member Education Coordinator will ensure members remain safe and competent in the utility industry.  Duties will primarily be exploring new in- house or third party training opportunities, particularly in areas not currently provided but will also include refining current programs. The Member Education Coordinator will work diligently to research practical, affordable and diverse training for onsite (IAMU or member location) or virtual presentation.

The Member Education Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.

This position will work a hybrid schedule, after sufficient training period. Hybrid schedule will include a minimum 2 to 3 days in office, depending on time of year, and the events going on. Some limited travel may be required for planned workshops.  Travel would be planned in advance and likely mostly be day trips.

Job Functions
•  Assess training needs across membership through conversation, surveys and IAMU staff recommendations
•  Research training opportunities through in-house experts or third party providers
•  Cultivate relationships with third party local and national educators
•  Design and maintain course catalog
•  Research Learning Management Systems and assist with implementation
•  Creatively designs marketing materials in partnership with IAMU staff
•  Monitor feedback related to courses and trainers to determine effectiveness
• Event management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•  Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work with a variety of stakeholders
•  Capable of identifying opportunities, implementing programs and evaluating effectiveness of development programs
• Passion for education
•  Demonstrated effective written communication skills
•  Ability to function independently
•  Strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, demonstrated experience in detail-oriented tasks
•  Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and multimedia training platforms and methods

Education and Experience
•  Bachelors degree in related field, plus 2 to 4 years experience in similar position or
equivalent combination of education and experience

Compensation
•  $53,000 to $63,000 annually
• IAMU benefit package
