Spring,
summer, and fall are the perfect seasons for outside safety training.
Recently the IAMU west central safety groups participated in pole top
and bucket truck rescue training with Andrew Preston. Andrew performs a
lot of high voltage electrical safety training all over the state of
Iowa for IAMU and has years of experience working with high voltage. If
you have not previously participated in this training but do any pole
top or bucket truck work, we highly recommend this training.
The
training provides instruction and hands-on practice regarding the
different methods of safe rescue from a pole top (with or without a
cross arm) or a bucket truck. This training includes fall protection,
review of bucket truck safety, recognizing hazards, performing prejob
briefings, and methods to insure a safe rescue. This training is very
important for utilities as well as any city crews who may need to assist
with a rescue or use a bucket truck for changing street lights, setting
seasonal decorations, banners on utility poles, or on any other
structures, and those who perform tree trimming.
We want to
thank all the IAMU members who participate annually in our pole top and
bucket truck rescue training. If you would like more information,
please contact IAMU.
