Established in 1947, Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities (IAMU)
represents over 750 municipal broadband, electric, gas and water
utilities statewide. IAMU is the largest organization of its kind in
the country. Activities include representation of municipal utility
interests before the Iowa Legislature, administering mutual aid
programs, assisting members with compliance requirements, and providing
training, education and workshops. Our mission is to support and
strengthen Iowa’s municipal utilities.
We are looking for a
part-time (20-25 hours per week) Accounting Specialist to join our team
who can perform a variety of accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will
possess the following skills:
- Strong attention to detail
- High degree of accuracy
- Excellent organizational abilities
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Experience with QuickBooks
- Microsoft Office skills with proficiency in Excel
The
Accounting Specialist will support the Director of Finance &
Administration, the Accounting Manager and will provide a high level of
customer service to IAMU staff and members. This position will work in
our Ankeny office (remote work not available) and will report to the
Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Accounts Receivable
- Maintain accounts, create invoices, reconcile statements, follow up on collections, provide back up for daily banking process
- Accounts Payable
- Create
accounts payable invoices, research and resolve discrepancies, maintain
files, reconcile and review monthly statements from vendors
- Concur Expense Management
- Audit and reconcile expense reports, assist staff with expense report submission, resolve discrepancies
- Petty Cash Management
Requirements:- Bachelors or Associates Degree with 5+ years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Salary & Benefits:- Hourly rate: $23-$27 per hour
