Operator Qualification (OQ) Program

Each pipeline operator is responsible for developing an OQ program, following their written OQ plan, establishing a covered task list applicable to their system, and defining the training and qualification requirements for personnel performing covered tasks on their pipeline.

IAMU has developed a natural gas OQ plan specific to its members.  This OQ plan meets as well as exceeds all requirements mandated by PHMSA.  The IAMU OQ plan and program provides the following to its members.

  • An industry recognized American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B31Q covered task list.
  • Task specific training and qualification requirements
  • Online training content and written exams
  • IACET Certified evaluators for proctored written exams (if required)
  • IACET Certified evaluators for completing performance evaluations
  • Online recordkeeping
