This workshop is a combination of classroom and hands-on learning opportunities, where participants are exposed to situations that are as “real-world” as possible, without the real-world risk or danger. During the workshop, the following topics will include basics of single-phase and three-phase transformer connections and theory including turns ratios, polarities, safe work practices, basic calculations, connections, sizing, and troubleshooting. Participants will work with energized miniature transformers. The transformers will blow fuses to allow participants to experience what happens when something is wired incorrectly. The class will continue to build on the miniature transformer banks and allow troubleshooting. Discussion on motor rotation as it relates to three-phase systems as well as ways to prevent voltage surges while switching three-phase bank. Class attendees will be required to bring their own personal protective equipment, including: - Arc Flash Shield & Hard hat
