Smart grid is a concept used to modernize the electric grid. It uses advancing technologies to integrate renewable resources, increase reliability, provide for efficient use of resources, and deliver information to consumers. It involves tools such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), demand response through load control devices or time of use prices, interconnection of variable resources such as solar and wind, and platforms for customer information.
To help our members transition to a smarter grid, IAMU received a grant through the US Department of Energy' Smart Grid Investment Grant Program to help fund our 2 Degrees 2 Save Program.
IAMU can also provide technical information relating to AMI, demand response, developing time of use prices, and interconnection. For more information, please contact Energy Services staff.
