Welcome to IAMU's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy website. IAMU assists Iowa's municipal electric and gas utilities in providing cutting-edge energy efficiency programs to their customers. The Interconnection Toolbox, including model interconnection standards, is designed to help electric utilities navigate interconnecting distributed generation such as solar or wind.
Model energy efficiency programs residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Includes recommended rebate levels, efficiency standards, and marketing materials.
Communities can significantly improve their street lighting quality while reducing energy and maintenance costs by installing LED street lights. Use the LED Joint Purchase Program and handbook for a successful retrofit project.
In cooperation with IAMU Associate Member Service Concepts, IAMU members can purchase high quality LED and CFL lighting products for use in their lighting energy efficiency programs.
IAMU has led efforts for utilities to help modernize the electrical grid. Our 2 Degrees 2 Save Program offers our members opportunities for demand response.
IAMU assists members with several energy efficiency regulatory reports including the Biennial IUB Energy Efficiency Plan, the EIA 861 Schedule 6, and WAPA MIR.
Energy Efficiency Equipment Rentals
To assist with energy audits and distribution system inspections,members can rent an infrared camera. Several educational displays are also available: Pedal Power, a CFL balloon, and a lighting display.
Energy Audits and Community Energy PlansIAMU staff help member utilities find the best areas for saving energy in their communities. Services include building energy audits, and developing community energy plans.
Grant Writing and Administration Services
IAMU staff has extensive experience writing and administering successful grants.
